"The day really started on October 2nd when I snuck into my finace's house while she was at work to drop off a book that I had made her and some roses. The book spoke to our future children about what I was doing that day to prepare their mother for my proposal. The following pages were the verses from the parable of the ten virgins from Matthew 25:1-13. Just as we all have to be ready for Christ's return at any moment, she had to be ready for when I came for her, day or night in the month of October. It ended with instructions for her on how to be prepared. I just needed her, her ability to form the word yes and for her to have one carry on bag packed for two nights.
October 24th finally came around and I was at her door at 4:30am. Her roommate Kim, who had been in on the surprise from the word go, let me in so that I could wake up my future wife and take her away for the weekend.
Stephane was more than ready to go!
My surprise trip - the entire state of Colorado! We went from O'Hare to the Denver International Airport where we drove to The Broadmoor Hotel for lunch and a strol around the grounds. After that, I took her to The Garden of the Gods where I have never felt my heart pound so hard or fast. After walking for a half hour, we scaled a large rock for a few minutes. It was time. We prayed for each other for a few minutes and I spent some time encouraging her the best I knew how. Then there was nothing more to say other than to ask her to be my wife."
