There has also been a slight update to the page: the top banner is now made up of a random collection of thumbnails of days drawn. As the collection grows, so will the possibility of unique combinations. Hope you enjoy it.

It feels absolutely great to receive feedback like the following from Scottie Vosburgh:
The painting was a hit. He liked it very much and I believe his statement was something about me finally understanding his love of unique art or something along those lines. I wish I could remember his exact words.

Hopefully he will now be able to re-hang our "520" next to it on the wall.

I put it in a temporary frame so I am pretty sure he is going to have it framed professionally. I will send you a picture when it is all done and up on the wall.

thank you again. I love your work and am certain will be ordering other pieces soon.

I guess it all started for me when I read the article about onethousandpaintings.com in Wired magazine, sometime in December 2006. Inspired by Sala's revolutionary project and tired of keeping my watercolorsin the closet (just kidding, I had a solo exhibition here in Ann Arbor and have a few with art dealers in the US and in Brazil), I thought of a project in which people would tell me about their regular days and I would paint them. Well, a few weeks into the project I emailed Sala just to tell him that I was inspired by onethousandpaintings. And what a great surprise it was when Sala wrote back with the idea of a collaborative project! In addition, he realized that people are much more interested in special days than in regular days. And here it is: 365specialdays.com.

So, welcome to this site, and please let us know about your special days - I hope my loose lines and fluid colors can capture some of your special memories, and eternalize them on paper.

Again uploaded two new drawings. Something that I start to find extremely exciting about this project is that every drawing will be different and a complete surprise. This sounds trivial, but is a big difference to most art projects that are essentially WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). On the admin side of things, I have added a page with our contact information - just in case.

Uploaded two new drawings. Starting to get lots of visitors. Realized that special days are not always particularly happy days - they can also be sad, strange, remarkable, or especially normal. Looking forward to a diverse set of stories. Also updated the days page so that one can selectively only show the days that have already been drawn.

After months of preparation, here it is: 365 special days. It is always a weird feeling to write the first blog entry, especially when the site is still to be officially launched. However, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about how 365specialdays.com came to be.

About 4 months ago, Fernando and I got into contact. When I first saw Fernando's drawings, I was instantly taken in by their simplicity and power. I can't really describe it - they're just beautiful. Fernando has been playing around with the idea of drawing the stories of particular days, and we decided to work together on an art project. 365specialdays.com is the result of that process.

In the future, it will be mostly Fernando who will write in this blog - it is his project, after all. I am just the guy behind the scenes, taking care of the website. My name is Sala, and I am the artist behind onethousandpaintings.com (some people might know my work through the websites as graphs applet). Because Fernando is busy drawing, I took the freedom to write the first blog entry.

So let me welcome you on this website, and I hope you like what you see. Right now, the days & stories section is virtually empty, of course, but over time I am sure we will see a huge collection of interesting stories and beautiful drawings. I really enjoy to be part of this, and I hope so do you.

Thanks, and best wishes,

Sala
